Castlebar Regional Training Centre was officially opened in 2002 following the establishment of the Water Services National Training Group. The Centre is one of the five centres set up to provide training as set out in the National Training Programme for the Water Services Sector. The Centre now caters for the Water Services, Roads, Environment and Fire Services training needs of Local Authority personnel in Mayo County Council, Galway City and County Councils, Roscommon County Council, Longford County Council and Leitrim County Council as well as delivering training programmes to the private sector.

Facilities:
The Centre contains five lecture rooms including an auditorium style room which can seat up to eighty people. Each lecture room is equipped with integrated audio visual equipment to allow presentation delivery using a variety of technologies. One of the rooms is used for IT training and is equipped with 10 fully integrated PCs and all necessary backup. The Centre also houses a large accredited practical training facility including an indoor workshop and a bespoke confined space facility. The centre has been awarded outright winner for training and development by the Public Sector Magazine, Excellence in Business Awards for 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 and outright winner for excellence in training for both the public & private sectors in 2018.

Accreditation:
The facility is accredited by QQI and ECITB. The Centre is approved by IT Carlow for delivery of the Road Programme Management Programme for Local Authority Roads Staff. The Centre has been awarded outright winner for training and development by the Public Sector Magazine, Excellence in Business Awards for 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. We have also been awarded outright winner for excellence in training for both the public & private sectors in 2018.
